Join a snorkel trip with Sole’ Watersports at Hawks Cay Resort and you’ll understand why.

Florida Keys Snorkeling on the Coral Reefs

The Florida Keys are home to the only living coral barrier reef in the continental U.S., also known as the Great Florida Reef. The Great Barrier Reef and the Belize Barrier Reef are the only systems larger!

The Great Florida Reef lies within five miles of Duck Key and can be reached in half an hour on Solé Watersports power catamaran, Helios. At Hawks Cay Resort, we have a sweet spot we like to take our guests to. Coffins Patch is part of the Great Florida Reef system, and it’s a shallow coral reef located within a protected area known as the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Its protected status keeps it pristine and breathtakingly beautiful, and its depth makes it perfect for snorkeling. Depending on the day, you might glimpse a smattering of reef fish, lobsters, turtles and other species.

Group Snorkel and Sandbar Excursion with Solé Watersports

Rates: Adult $95; Children under 12 $75

Your excursion starts from the Hawks Cay Resort Marina, and Solé Watersports takes snorkelers out to the coral reefs on their catamaran, Helios. Anyone who’s a confident swimmer can snorkel, and anyone who prefers to stay on board enjoys a fairly fantastic view, too—with water this clear, passengers can peer out over the reef to do some spotting of their own, though sunning on the bow of the boat is also popular, and our guides have developed a reputation for entertaining.

Additional Information

Solé Watersports provides masks, fins, snorkels, life vests and aqua noodles. They typically give snorkelers around 60 minutes to explore and take any breaks as needed. Including the roundtrip boat ride, the Group Snorkel Excursion lasts about two and a half hours. For your comfort, we provide bottled water and a restroom on board. Guests are welcome to bring drinks and snacks aboard. A 15% gratuity will be added for groups of 6 or more. All Excursions require a reservation. We do have options of Private Snorkel Excursions. Guests with medical restrictions or special needs are required to email [email protected] or call (305) 209-9959 to make a reservation.

Reserve Now

             related content

Top Hidden Experiences at Hawks Cay

Road Trippin’: The Ultimate Guide to a Florida Keys Road Trip

Learn a Thing (or Three) at Hawks Cay Resort
                                                                                                               function initImg() {        var imgDefer = document.getElementsByTagName('img');      for (var i = 0; i  0) {             $('#fareharbor-cartframe-iframe').removeAttr('frameborder').removeAttr('border');       }   }, false);  // AOS.init();  // AOS.init({   //  once: true,     // });      window.addEventListener("load", function(){             var container = document.getElementById('js-cookie__container');      window.cookieconsent.initialise({           "palette": {                "popup": {                  "background": "#011f26",                    "text": "#ffffff",              },              "button": {                     "background": "#f2ce16",                    "text": "#011f26",                  "color": "#011f26",                 },          },          "law" : {               "regionalLaw" : false,          },          "location"  : false,            "content": {                'message': 'We serve cookies to analyze traffic and customize content on this site.
